Origami update, wow I'm a little obsessed with this thing.
So a new picture has leaked, and it looks like the real deal. The main thing is that it shows the Window's Vista Media Player, and not XP's. So my original assumption that it was running off Vista was right. I guess the full announcement will come thurs.

So apparently a bunch of High School students made a diesel/electric hyrbrid sports car that gets 50 mpg, and goes from 0-60 in four seconds. The kicker is it runs on soy beans. A Philidelphia auto class took parts from other cars and put them together to make the car. It's looks pretty impressive. It also makes me wonder, what's wrong with the auto industry? And maybe lobbying does have an enormous sway ovver the continued use of oil. I guess Exxon won't be happy with this.

I know this vehicle does not meet proper vehicle standards, and that soy is more expensive then gas, but the idea of a biomass deisel engine combined with an electric motor does sound like a good idea. Also that if the Go Yellow: Corn idea or Soy, becomes more mass marketed it could in fact end up being cheaper than gas, and be renewable.

So Oblivion has officially gone gold! What does this mean excatly? What it means is that the final version of is complete and has gone off to manufacturing. No more delays, the game will come out on the week of March 20th. Also I won't work 29 days straight for a while.

I have not been promoted yet, I'm still waiting on that. Right now I am testing Pirates of the Carribean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow. It's a run around and kill pirates type thing, with simple, easy puzzles. It's um... yeah... Actually, I'm sure it will be ok. throwing exploding barrels at Pirates is kind of fun.

Well that's all for now. I'm going back to the dangerous death defying job of being a game tester.

So what's the new info on the Origami? That it's unveiling will be on the 9th?

That was weaker than Apple's announcement of it's uninnovative iPod speaker on tuesday. Yay! Oh right they also announced a Mac Mini powered by intel. There are already power pc powered mac minis.

Oh actually there is one correction to my comments about the origami, and that it is not using Windows Vista, but just Windows XP. I was somewhat dissapointed by this since Vista looks pretty interesting, and has lots of cool new features they are adding to it.

Microsoft has a portable media player that looks very interesting. Actually it's more of a tablet PC. It's called right now as Project Origami. Here is an ad video Basically it looks as if it has Windows Vista running on it can. From the video we see people writing notes, importing and sending sound files, playing Halo, Drawing on what seems to be a highly improved version of paint, instant messaging, syncing with a camera phone as well as a digital camera, and web browsing. It uses a table interface, but also has a detachable keyboard. It's slightly large, about the size of a 6x8 or so. According to this article on Network World the device will be priced $500 or under. Will it be Micrsoft's Ipod killer? Probably not. It looks more like a cool laptop that you have to sync up with your computer. Also note that Microsoft has been discussing a new era of digital distrabution, where media such as DVD's will become invalid, as file transfer becomes more prominant. I'm excited to see what further details Microsoft releases. They are supposed to do the big reveal on March 2nd.

Poor and Tired

It's been a while since the last update, I guess a lot of things have happened, it jsut doesn't feel like it.

I'm now living in Owings Mills, MD with Eve, we have a nice sized one bedroom apartment on the top floor, and a target like 2 minutes away, it's pretty nice. The Road I live on is like Rockville Pike 15 years ago. I think we're down to 5 boxes. We moved out to Owings Mills, cause Eve's going to Villa Julie and she doesn't drive.

I have no life now though, which I guess is good since I'm so poor now as well. I spend about $15 on gas a day. I need to eventually get a more fuel efficient car, V6 eats up gas. I also work 7 days a week, at least 64 hours a week. Ashley's probably been working more and longer hours then I have. I started working 6 days a week halfway through August, then in September till I think October I worked 7 days a week. In October I went back down to 6, until this about two weeks ago. With my commute and work I pretty much wake up, get ready, come to work, work, come home, watch an hour and a half of tv while I eat, then go to bed. Wash Rinse Repeat.

I need to change my oil. I also need to change my address, get emmissions stuff done, go to the bank to change my adress, and relax??

Still, things could be worse. I could be working retail still and living in a tiny closet of an apartment in Garret Park. Or be in a death march working for a bigger game company.

So, I know it's early, but already I'm thinking about what to get people for christmas. You know what would make it easy?? amazon.com wishlist. It's nice, you can even sort by priority and see what's already been purchased on the wish list. It would make it much easier for me to pick out what everyone wants.

Crusade against violence

Incase you have no idea who Jack Thompson is; he's a crazy idiot. He basically believes that violent video games result in violent kids. Of course movies, TV, books, and even the news, they're ok. Here's an example of a site that supports him Stop Kill. A few days ago Jack Thompson stated that if any game publisher is willing to make a game about a family who's child is killed due to video game violence he will give 10,000 dollars to some charity. Not too long after making this statement, Dr. David Walsh of the media watchdog group National Institute on Media and the Family, made a statement of asking Jack Thompson to stop citing the National Institute on Media and the Family. He also stated that he did not agree with Jack Thompson's views. Yesterday Jack Thompson replied to Dr. Walsh by saying,

"I know, and you know, if you are being honest, that that is not how the world works. Evil people sometimes have to be stopped, or at least their evil has to be stopped. You can cite all the studies and all the findings and keep giving your video game report card to Congress, and it will not matter unless somebody gets into the trenches and stops these people. While you have been giving report cards on a bunch of sociopaths, the violent games have been getting more violent."

I personally have always been against blaming the media for violent children. Any instance seems to be due to the child was fairly mentally unstable to begin with. I am for informing parents and people to be educated about the ESRB ratings though, and for vendors to be more responsible.

All of this though, makes me laugh. Especially when compared to Dr. Fredric Wertham's crusade against the comic book industry in the late 40's. This is just all ridiculous for me

Nachos Belle Grande

So what's new? Not much really. So far, its just the same old mundane working. Oblivion has been announced as being pushed back until December 5th. I hope we make it in time, but that's more of Ashley's problem to worry about.

On my commutes back and forth from work I think a lot about writing some more. Writing more comics that is. I have a couple ideas that float around in my head. One is my current dream story. It's a zombie story, I have a plan for it that I don't think has been done before. I find zombies interesting just because they are this unrelenting force that doesn't know when to stop unlike Vampires or Werewolves. I know none of these creatures exist, but still I find it somewhat fascinating, and a fun subject to try and write. I would elaborate on my ideas, but that would be spoiling it, wouldn't it? I won't tackle this, however, until I've become a better writer.

My other comic ideas are my Blaxploitation that will never happen, because there is such a small interest group in that genre. the last is Howdy Bloodsucker. I've already done one short comic with my friend Tubby Fleck Meat Dynamo. I reread it recently, and it makes no sense ad is convoluted. I've been thinking about rewriting this, start from scratch.

Howdy Bloodsucker is my racial satire comedic comic along the lines of say The Tick or Venture Bros. At least I'm trying to be clever and absurd in those ways. Howdy bloodsucker follows the exploits of an effeminate Romanian Vampire in Texas during the late 1800's. That's right, Vampire cowboy goodness. He goes on seeking to make a new life for himself and find people to satisfy his blood lust along with his Native American Man servant and his man servant's spirit animal.

The first issue I wrote was him running into a former goat farmer turned priest, named Padre Nachos Belle Grande, who vows revenge on Chupacabras for destorying killing his goats and ruining his family. The second was supposed to be him running into a Chinese railworker neamed Chow Fun. If you think their names are bad that's just the tip of the iceberg. So yeah I've been thinking about re-writing it and maybe drawing it myself. I'll do this in all the time I don't have.

Nothing new, new tv season starts soon, I'll have to reactivate the tivo. Boondocks the great comic strip in the Washington Post by Aaron Mcgruder , is going to have a show on Adult Swim sometime in October. I can't wait. Also my favorite Adult Swim show Venture Bros. is on the air again. I'll wait for the season one DVD's to come out again. Oh and btw the title is from Harvey Birdman.
Enough about Adult Swim.

Busy working. Don't have much time for anything else other than sleep and work. I manage to get an hour or two of TV in a day. Also I think I have a cold. I took some medicine yesterday and I felt exhausted even though it was daytime medicine. I'm so bad, I need 56 hours of sleep to function.

It's sunday and guess what I'm doing? Working. I'll probably continue working until the game is done. Which is fine since other people have been doing that already.

I saw Red Eye yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Well I guess critics had reason for giving it good reviews. Cilian Murphy is a creepy dude.
